I’ve said it many times but I’ll say it again, I really like the fact that hockey players are so fan friendly. Today’s post is about Alexis Gravel, currently playing for the Halifax Mooseheads. He had a pretty successful rookie season, splitting duties with Blade Mann-Dixon, who was nearing the end of his junior career. I’m assuming that Alexis will now take on duties of full time starter in his third year with the team.
Looking strictly at Alexis’ stats from the 2017/18 season, they definitely weren’t the best where he ranked 28th overall in GAA (3.38) and 30th for SA% (.890). He did outperform his regular season statistics in the playoffs, playing 8 games with a 2.70 GAA and a .917 SA%. If this was any indication of this next season, things could be very promising for the club. I can see the Mooseheads coming back to the playoffs but a big question mark will be where does Filip Zadina end up playing this coming season. Both Zadina and Otto Somppi (AHL bound) were the top 2 scoring players on this team.
Alexis was a 2018 NHL draft pick going in the 6th round, 162nd overall. In that particular draft, he was the 18th goalie chosen. I’m not entirely sure what happened with NHL teams passing on Alexis as he was expected to be selected earlier in the draft.
Gettin’ the auto
I got this autograph from Alexis Gravel, simply by asking. I went to social media, messaged Alexis and thankfully he responded but I will be respectful and not give out his address. Alexis signed back very quickly in 2 months as I’m sure he’s busy getting ready for the season.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you could get autographs from Alexis if you send to him via Halifax Mooseheads. They’ve been extremely fan friendly as that’s where I got Nathan MacKinnon in the past.
