The thing I noticed most about Allan McShane was that he has a fantastic shot and some great hands. Of course, highlight reels are meant to do just that, highlight their hockey skills. I’ll have to give credit to those who scout these players on a nightly basis and end up noticing much more than us casual watchers see. Clearly, Allan did enough to have gotten drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the 4th round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
Now that Allan is back in the OHL, he’s currently second on his team in scoring, just behind Serron Noel. He’s represented Team Canada on a couple of occasions, the first as part of the U-17 WHC and then again a year later with the U-18 WJC. Allan tied the team lead in that last U-18 with Alexis Lafrenière and teammate Noel. I can only imagine that Hockey Canada will be taking a look at his skillset when the World Juniors come around again. As a team, the Generals have done well and sit fourth in the Eastern Conference and likely making it into the post season, barring some incredible collapse.
Gettin’ the auto
I sent this card to the Oshawa Generals and got it back autographed by Allan in less than two months. The signature looked really great starting out but appears to have a little less pressure on the card near the end, as you can see. Not sure what happened there, if it was due to Allan’s hand easing up on the card or the sharpie’s ink just happening to become low at that time.
Lots of hype around Allan but seems to have dropped to the fourth round – although being pegged a late 1st or 2nd round pick.
A video review of Allan McShane
I always really appreciate the videos put out by hockey prospects center.
