Cam Atikinson is currently a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets and likely wants to stay there the rest of his NHL career. He was originally drafted by the team in 2008, going 157th overall. That draft was excellent as they produced talents like Erik Karlsson, Steven Stamkos and Drew Doughty. Obviously, Cam wasn’t very highly touted as he was passed over 5 previous rounds and selected just after Jared Spurgeon of the Minnesota Wild (a NY Islanders draft pick at the time).
Last year, Cam helped the Blue Jackets get into the playoffs for the second straight year. I suppose we’ll see if the team reaches further than the first round, something they haven’t been able to achieve since 08/09 when they lost in the Conference Quarterfinals. Of course, the last couple of seasons they’ve had to go through the Penguins or the Capitals. Both of those teams ended up winning the Stanley Cup.
As of November 2017, Cam signed a huge seven year deal, which will likely see him until the end of his time in the NHL.
I’ve always loved how teams have grown their prospects, in which the players themselves become ingrained into the culture of the organization and the community.
Gettin’ the auto
This is another one of those returns I found an address on a forum I frequent. Cam luckily signed this one, similar to the previous post of Tyler Bozak, in the offseason. He signed in a 155 days. It’d be an address (assuming it works) that I’d suggest you send to if you’re looking for his autograph. As you can tell, I should’ve prepared this card a bit better as there is bleeding of the ink.
It looks like Cam wants to be a Jackets’ lifer

A nice feature on Cam, produced by the Blue Jackets.
