For those who haven’t already made the connection, Chris Bourque is the son of HHOF legend, Ray Bourque. Obviously, it must be difficult to live up to your dad’s status in the hockey world but you gotta give props to Chris for trying. If it’s his passion, he’s gotta do the best he can to make what he can of his life!
Chris was originally drafted in 2004 by the Washington Capitals, selected in the 2nd round. Throughout Chris’ career, he’s been up and down between the AHL and NHL levels. Teams like Boston, Pittsburgh and Washington have given Chris a shot at sticking with the club. It has been about 5 years since Chris has seen NHL ice but you never know when a team will come knocking at your door. Hats off to Chris and persevering and following his goals of becoming a full time NHLer.
Recently, he participated in the 2018 Olympics in which he was a member of Team USA, however the team finished 7th in what was a disappointing tournament.
Gettin’ the auto
This card was signed via the Bridgeport Sound Tigers which I knew would be a good time to send to Chris. Usually I’ll have a good idea if I’ve gotten returns from the team off my memory. Last season, I got both Kristers Gudlevskis and Michael Dal Colle via the Tigers. It only took Chris 47 days to return this mail. Although he’s part of the AHL, my expectations for mail being returned in a timely manner (or even at all) is significantly less!
While it seems that the goal of making it into the NHL is a far goal, Chris has accomplished other things, like recording 700 points in the AHL and making it to Team USA.

For sure a double edged sword when you’re the son of HHOF legend, Ray Bourque.
