Chris Tanev is one of the most underrated defensemen in the NHL. He’s currently the veteran defenseman on the team at the age of 28. While the Canucks not expected to make the playoffs this year, he and Alex Edler are doing their best to make that happen.
Prior to the start of Chris’ career, all NHL teams passed over him in the NHL Entry Draft as he was described as a “late bloomer” by RIT coach Wayne Wilson. There appeared to be interest in Tanev’s services by various teams but ultimately he selected Vancouver as his NHL destination.
It’s quite nice that Chris has now become a number one D pairing for the Canucks and had been selected to represent Canada in 2016. He received recognition from teammates Connor McDavid and Brendan Gallagher for his performance in that tournament which Canada won gold. Of course, Tanev has been linked to a number of rumors as his stock value is high and it doesn’t appear as if the Canucks will be making a run at the Stanley Cup anytime soon.
Gettin’ the auto
I got this card signed by Chris Tanev when I sent mail to him on January 1, 2018. My personal goal for this year was to send out 500 (yes, FIVE HUNDRED) letters in the year. So far, I’ve reached 420 sent with the hockey season well underway. The entire round trip for my cards took 265 days in total.
