From one captain in the WHL to another in the QMJHL, David Noel is the featured player in today’s post. David, as mentioned previously, is the current captain of Val-d’Or in his third season in the CHL. He was originally drafted by the Chicoutimi Saguenéensin the second round of the QMJHL Entry Draft. That draft saw Joseph Veleno go first overall to the Saint John Sea Dogs and has yet to see any sort of traction in terms of NHL talent. There are a handful of players currently in their first season with the AHL team but we likely won’t see players make it to the NHL for at least a couple of years.
Hopefully for David, he won’t have to jump into the St.Louis Blues’ roster anytime soon and can develop his game in the CHL / AHL routes. The Blues actually haven’t been particularly spectacular this season, sitting near the bottom of the Western standings but have other defenseman that they likely would call up. Being selected in the 5th round, the odds of playing 100 games are fairly low at 15% of all players being selected between 121-135th positions. I definitely will be keeping an eye on David’s progression!
Gettin’ the auto
As usual, this return was sent back to me in less than a month. I’m not sure if it’s just the number of requests that are sent or if players that haven’t hit the big leagues are more willing to sign but it’s great that they are willing! As you can see, David signed this card vertically on the card which is a little unusual to say the least!
Not much has been written individually on David Noel but there have been some articles (see below) on the Blues’ prospects as a whole.
