Ethan Bear, currently part of the Edmonton Oilers organization, drafted in the 5th round in 2015. Of course, everyone recalls that being the “Connor McDavid Sweepstakes” draft but I still think that Ethan Bear has a decent shot of making the jump. While he hasn’t been given a real opportunity at the NHL level for any lengthy duration, I figure if he continues to work hard, he’ll get his chance. The Oilers on the backend need good defenseman and I’m sure they’ll be looking at all avenues.
Ethan was a former Seattle Thunderbird, putting up 70 points in his final year of the CHL. He’s slowly producing at the AHL level and can only imagine him getting better as the years pass by. He’s already showing signs of consistency, points wise, as he’s matched his current point totals from last year.
It’s just a matter of time before the Oilers’ younger prospects such as Ethan and Evan Bouchard make a dent into the Oilers’ lineup and hopefully bring this team success.
Gettin’ the auto
Nice to get this return from Ethan Bear, showcased in a Team Canada jersey. I always wanted to get more of these World Junior Team Canada hockey cards signed by the players but it’s obviously hard to collect when you have all the best Canadian players on one set. The likes of Connor McDavid, Matthew Barzal or even the elusive Tyler Benson are hard to get. I sent this card to him via the Bakersfield Condors and got it back in exactly 30 days.
Right now, it appears as if Ethan is on the fringe of NHL / AHL status.
