I’m so happy to have gotten Ilya Bryzgalov, a former NHL goaltender for those young folks who didn’t get to watch him play. He was drafted by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in 2000, going 44th overall. I’d say that Ilya’s overall hockey career was somewhat short lived, having never really having the starting role on an NHL cup contending team. He was the starting goaltender with the Pheonix Coyotes franchise, which failed to reach the finals each of the 4 years he was with the team. While not being a cup contending team can’t be solely be blamed on the goaltender (which, judging by past Coyotes teams, it shouldn’t be), a lot of teams have a solid #1 goaltender. When it’s all said and done, I believe that most of what Ilya’s career will be noted for is his off-ice personality. During his career, Ilya has made references to dogs, bears and a whole wack of fun things that make his interviews so funny to watch.
