Let’s all agree that CHL is great but finally I’m able to write about an active NHL player! Formerly a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, Jake Muzzin has made a name for himself in the NHL. He played for the Soo between 2006 – 2010, where he was named as the team captain in his final season in the CHL. He led the team in scoring that year, which included Jordan Nolan, another notable NHLer.
Jake went a road travelled by most players, having been drafted by Pittsburgh in 2007 but left unsigned, only to return to the CHL as an overage player. This is where some differences lie, Jake didn’t let that get him down, which included a Nashville Predators training camp invite. He eventually was signed by the LA Kings and subsequently has had his contract extended three times since then.
He helped the Kings win the cup in 2014 where he also picked up the award for most playoff goals by an NHL defenseman during that season. It’ll be hard to imagine Jake going anywhere, considering his effectiveness on the ice but with the Los Angeles Kings sitting at the bottom of the standings, Jake might be able to help other NHL teams win the cup, given his history.
Gettin’ the auto
So happy to have gotten this autograph, specifically on this Upper Deck ICE hockey card, signed by Jake Muzzin. I sent items to Jake via a private address that I found on a forum. Surprisingly, I sent the cards to him in September and he returned them to me in October of last year. I’ve been busy trying to write blog posts on all the others, I guess Jake got lost in the shuffle!
Seems like a lot of teams could covet free agent, Jake Muzzin.
