I think this one got lost in the shuffle of my list of players to write about but that’s definitely not a knock on Lucas Chiodo. Standing at 5’6, he’s gotta be one of the shorter players playing the CHL. While I do think the NHL is heading towards a more accepting stance on shorter, skilled players, I would tend to believe that we’re still in a phase where the older thinking GMs still want these big giants.
From a season standpoint, Lucas is having himself a great year. Prior to being traded to the Ottawa 67s (who seem to be stacking up for a lengthly playoff run), he was and still is leading the Barrie Colts in scoring. Lucas was on pace to break his season personal career best and I can only imagine how well he’ll do, joining a better team. With players like Tye Felhaber and newcomers Kyle Maksimovich and Michael DiPietro will round out this teams’ chances for a Memorial Cup.
Best of luck to the Ottawa 67s on their cup run!
Gettin’ the auto
This autograph was attained through the mail – via a private address. I can’t imagine that if you sent a request to the Ottawa 67s, you wouldn’t get a reply back. I’m not totally sure what the policy that CHL teams have during their playoff run but I would guess that if there aren’t too many requests for players, that they might forward mail. At the end of the day, I got this card signed from Lucas in 12 days in the offseason!
Nice of Lucas to be a part of a first CHL goal for a 16 year old rookie, Alec Belanger
