As of late, whenever I see a Star Rookies card signed, like this one by Luke Henman, I get pretty excited to see how well they’ve done this year. It’s cool to see these young players come through the CHL and become bonafide superstars. Obviously players like Nathan MacKinnon and Adam Henrique have had their pictures on some of these pre-NHL cards.
As for Luke, he was recently drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes, a team that appears to be on the uptrend. They obviously drafted Andrei Svechnikov this year but snagged Luke in the 4th round, 96th overall.
This season it looks like Luke is starting up right where he left off last season. With 13 points in 18 games, he’ll likely finish in the 40+ point mark, pending some amazing scoring streak. It was during the post season last year where Henman increased his draft stock, scoring 14 points in 20 games. Of course, this actually matches up quite well to his regular season as he’s averaging somewhere between the .7 and .8 PPG (including this season).
Thanks again Luke, wishing you all the best in your NHL career!
Gettin’ the auto
It seems like most of my returns are within two months and this one signed by Luke is no exception. I got his autograph on this Star Rookies CHL card in 41 days via the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. I’m actually quite fond of his autograph, it’s got some very nice loops but of course has been shortened for efficiency!
It seems like a wide range of opinions sit on Henman’s draft position but ultimately he was drafted in the 4th round.
