Matt Hendricks was never really known for his scoring powers but more for letting his fists do the talking. To date, he’s had a total of 87 career NHL fights which also include the preseason according to hockeyfights.com. His career peak in fights in a season was when he was suiting up for the Nashville Predators and Edmonton Oilers in the 2013/14 NHL season. His fight record for that season was 6 – 2 – 5 (W / L / D). Perhaps coincidence but during that same season he chipped in for a career low of 7 points. A little surprising since the previous season he played about 20 less games and scored 8 points with the Washington Capitals.
At the age of 37, it’s clear he’s on his last limb in the NHL as he’s battled through lots having gone to the playoffs a total of five times during his career, the last having been with the Jets. It does look very promising that he’ll end up with his sixth career post season appearance as the Wild are sitting nicely at 2nd in the Central Division. With Chicago and St.Louis appearing to be peering on the outside, it’s hard to imagine the Wild not making the playoffs.
Gettin’ the auto
This autograph was actually asked by a fellow hobbyist (is that what we’re called?), asking if I had ever gotten Matt’s autograph. I never had but was willing to give it a shot… which turned out well for me! This autograph was obtained via the Minnesota Wild in a few short weeks. I only sent him this one card of him which he signed nicely! I’d recommend sending card to the Wild, who have been awesome at forwarding mail to their players!
Shout out to @go_jets_go_55 for letting me help you!
Matt has been a leader – definitely in the locker room. He’ll be missed while sidelined with injury.
A video review of Matt Hendricks
A nice segment with Matt although likely playing in limited minutes – most of his commentary was on the bench.
