Matthew Grouchy, which I can only assume his nickname was “The Grouch” at some point in his life, is currently playing for the Quebec Remparts. At 19 years of age, he’s been passed over once at the NHL Entry Draft and is likely hoping to have more teams express interest in him in the upcoming 2019 draft.
For the remainder of the year, he’s gonna have to play at his best while the Quebec Remparts sit in a playoff position. They’re sixteenth overall in the Q with just over .500 in win percentage (.522). As of right now, Philipp Kurashev, a Chicago Blackhawks draftee, leads the team in points with Matthew sitting fourth overall on the team with 28 points.
After next season, it’ll be interesting to see what Matthew will end up doing. Will he continue to play hockey at the University level, try his hand overseas in hopes to get signed by a team or pursue another option all together. I haven’t had a great look at Matthew playing but it’s likely a very real decision for many junior hockey players. In fact, less than 10% of junior hockey players make the jump into the NHL at some point in their careers.
Gettin’ the auto
This autograph was attained, like all my signed items as of late, through the mail. It was sent to Matthew via his current team, the Quebec Remparts and was returned back to me in 30 days. From the looks of the signature, it looks like he’s signed it, with just his last name and inscribed with his current jersey number.
It looks like the only chance some may take on Matthew Grouchy, is if they want to select him for his name.
