Olivier Rodrigue is an unsigned, Edmonton Oilers prospect currently playing in the CHL for the Drummondville Voltigeurs. He was drafted this past NHL Entry Draft, going last in the 2nd round at #62. I’m hoping Olivier will become a solid goaltender for the Oilers as they’re going to need more of their prospects to develop into bonafide superstars.
Going in the second round and being the second goalie drafted at the 2018 Entry Draft is nothing to sneeze at. I’m sure that Olivier knew he’d be drafted fairly high with the NHL Central Scouting ranking him the best goaltender of the draft class out of the CHL. In addition, he was also drafted high in the QMJHL Entry Draft, going 3rd overall.
This season, he’s already to a hot start, posting a 2.53 GAA in 15 games played. He’s got 10 wins and has helped the Voltigeurs remain near the top of the standings. With Olivier as the starting goalie, he definitely will give the team the opportunity to win every game.
Gettin’ the auto
Thanks to Olivier Rodrigue and the rest of the Canadian Hockey League, I get the autographs from some of the best, young players in the world. Would I buy a junior league hockey card set of all the best young player in the game? Of course! I sent this card to Olivier via the Drummondville Voltigeurs early in the season in which he returned it in a quick month. As you can probably guess, Olivier has shortened his signature for efficiency… and I can’t blame him!
A trio of links that reconfirm Olivier’s goaltending prowess. He’s gonna be a good one.
