Finally, back to a current NHL’er! Riley Nash currently is a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets and has had a decent career being a depth forward. Originally drafted by the Oilers, a team which he didn’t’ play a single game for, was probably a good thing. Not that I dislike the Oilers but like many, it just seems like players have come and gone (see Taylor Hall) or have not lived up to the hype they originally had (see Nail Yakupov).
During his career with the Carolina Hurricanes, he never achieved more than 25 points in any given season but seemed to have struck the gold mine tallying 41 points last NHL season with the Bruins. This clearly helped his stock as he signed a new contract on July 1, 2018 with the Columbus Blue Jackets for 8.25 million a season.
So far this season, he’s amassed a total of 1 point on a team that’s currently sitting 2nd in the Metropolitan Division. To be fair, only 16 players on the team have scored any points this early in the season.

This Carolina Hurricanes hockey card was signed via the Columbus Blue Jackets by Riley Nash. He signed this card for me at the beginning of training camp this NHL season. As I’ve always preached, timing is everything. Since he signed with the Blue Jackets on July 1, I decided to send him some mail on July 3. He signed this card on September 25, a total of 84 days!
Luckily for Columbus they signed Riley Nash since Brandon Dubinsky has gone down with an injury, early in the season.
A video review of Riley Nash
Nice segment which I’m sure Columbus had a similar take on Nash.
