It’s been quite a ride for Samuel Asselin in the CHL.  A draft pick by the Cataractes in the 5th round, he’s currently representing his third team in his 4th year in the league.  Obviously he started his career with the Shawinigan Cataractes, eventually earning the captaincy for the team in his third year.  He unfortunately was traded (or fortunately?) to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in which he helped the team win the Memorial Cup.  During the tournament, he had six points in four games.  In the championship game of the Memorial Cup, Samuel scored the insurance goal and was the first star of the game.

He was recognized for his achievements during the Memorial Cup, being named to the Memorial Cup All-Star team.

Recently, he was traded to the Halifax Mooseheads for Cole Larkin, Yannic Bastarache and a 2nd round draft pick in 2019.

It’s still up in the air to see if any teams will take a chance on Samuel, although it appears he can produce when the chips are on the table.  Might be worth a shot for an NHL team to invite him to the pro camps!

Gettin’ the auto

Wow, what timing for sending this card to Samuel Asselin.  I sent him some fan mail to his former team and Memorial Cup champions, Acadie-Bathurst Titan.  Mail was sent on September 6 and received it back October 2.  I didn’t check the postmark on the envelope but I presume that it was sent from the Halifax area.
