Sasha Mutala plays on a fairly strong Tri-City Americans’ team this year. While they’re currently sitting a bit below 15th overall in the WHL, they did make it to the Quarterfinals last year. To be fair, it looks like a handful of their top players (ie. Morgan Geekie and Michael Rasmussen) have flown the coop and landed in NHL roles. It’ll be up to Sasha and the gang to step up the scoring that these top players have left behind.
So far this season, the Amerks sit with six wins and two losses through eight games. Sasha currently sits at sixth place in team scoring with seven points. Hopefully this season, he’s able to produce as next draft which is held in his hometown of Vancouver. According to THW, Sasha is expected to go roughly as a late 1st round or early 2nd round pick.
If the Vancouver Canucks happen to draft early in the 2nd round, Sasha might be worth a solid look at!
Gettin’ the auto
I really like this autograph from Sasha Mutala on this CHL Star Rookies hockey card by Upper Deck. Like most players, he signed in a black sharpie inscribed with his number 39. Considering that this Star Rookies card isn’t a base card, I wasn’t able to offer up any card to Sasha to keep. Maybe in the future when I have multiples of his card, he can keep one or two that I send him in the future.
It looks like Sasha has really lived up to expectations as he was most recently invited to the HC U-18 Selection Camp.

I’m really excited to find out where Sasha lands in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft!
