Trevor Carrick is a 2012 selection of the Carolina Hurricanes, yet has only played a handful of the games for the organization. At this moment, he’s played a total of 3 games in the NHL. With each passing year, the team becomes harder to crack as new prospects get selected. This year there already appears to be a top 5 with Dougie Hamilton, Justin Faulk, Jaccob Slavin, Brett Pesce and Trevor Van Riemsdyk. That leaves the last spot (or an extra spot) for Calvin de Haan, Haydn Fleury, Trevor Carrick and Roland McKeown to battle it out.
The interesting about hockey is how involved families can get. There are numerous famous hockey families that have played the game. Trevor comes from a hockey family, in which brothers Jake, Josh and Sam all have yet to make the NHL. At this time, it looks like only Sam is in the AHL, playing for the San Diego Gulls as a prospect of the Anaheim Ducks.
For those who haven’t kept up with Trevor’s career, he started out in the OHL with the Mississauga Steelheads organization. Once he graduated from junior hockey, he made his way on to the Checker’s lineup at which he’s now an assistant captain. He’s now entering his 5th year with the Charlotte Checkers.
For anyone who is a fan of the Checkers, does Trevor have a shot at the NHL?
Gettin’ the auto
I sent Trevor Carrick a few cards via a private, home address in which I found on a forum. This likely was an offseason address as it wasn’t in the city in which either the Checkers or Hurricanes play out of. The cards were sent in September but wasn’t returned until August of this year (almost a year out!) but returned them fully signed!
A few links regarding Trevor Carrick who is currently playing (mostly) for the Checkers in the AHL.
