I’m a big fan of Tyler Soy and wish him all the best in his pursuit of an NHL career. He’s a Victoria Royals’ alumni as he’s now officially completed playing junior hockey. He started playing for the Royals after being selected in the WHL bantam draft.
He quickly rose the ranks in terms of both leadership and point production. In his rookie season with Victoria, he 30 points in 65 games. The next season, he doubled his points to 63 and was also awarded the “A” that same season.
Unfortunately for Tyler, he ended his junior career with the Royals, injuring himself in a playoff game scrum against Tyler Benson. I’m positive that Tyler would have loved to help the Royals reach the Memorial Cup in his final season with the team. The positive takeaway from his time with Victoria is that he ended up being a franchise leader in a number of categories:
- Goals (151)
- Assists (176)
- Points (327)
- Games Played (323)
- Post Season Goals (17)
It’s a little unclear on where Tyler will play next season as he was recently invited to the Canucks’ development camp. I really wish Tyler all the best and want to thank him for signing this card for me.
I’ll miss hearing his name when the Royals come into town.
Gettin’ the auto
I got this autograph from Tyler Soy after I sent him a message requesting for his address. He advised me to keep it private, which I entirely intend to. He signed this CHL Upper Deck hockey card in a black sharpie, inscribing his number 17 at the end.
