Yaroslav Alexeyev might be a little known Russian prospect currently playing for the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the QMJHL. Of course, those in the Q may already know him well but outside of those who are fans of the team, I’m guessing it’s not likely. Obviously, it’s hard to know every single player in the league, especially the imports from other countries.
For those who don’t know much about Yaro, he was drafted 12th overall in the CHL Import Draft. Personally, I don’t keep too up to date with the Import Drafts but looking at the list during this 2016 draft, there are some notable names.
- Vancouver selecting Filip Zadina, 4th overall
- Halifax selecting Nico Hischer, 6th overall
- Portland selecting Henri Jokiharju, 25th overall
- Kitchener selecting Lias Andersson, 110th overall
This season, Yaro has done pretty well, posting better than a point a game on average. The past couple of seasons he’s just under a point a game player, so hopefully he can keep this going until the end of the season. Of course, he’s with a new team now that he was traded in the off season to Baie-Comeau Drakkar from Sherbrooke Pheonix.
Gettin’ the auto
I got this autograph through Yaroslav’s current team, Baie-Comeau Drakkar in 20 days. He signed this CHL Upper Deck hockey card for me in a black pen. It doesn’t quite seem like a sharpie but I’ll take it!
While undrafted, Yaroslav has still helped the team succeed!
